Overview: The Grenadier kit includes 2-piece rotors measuring 350x34mm (13.7 inches), cast from a proprietary high-carbon cast iron alloy that provides excellent durability and stability under high thermal loads. The rotors feature 72 curved, directional cooling vanes.

The slot pattern chosen is our well-proven “AT” slot pattern, which offers a good balance between functional aspects—such as efficient removal of sand, mud, and water (when driving in the rain or after river crossings)—and practical aspects, such as low levels of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) under braking. The slot pattern also provides excellent bite and release characteristics for the brake pads.

Every single Powerbrake rotor is measured for run-out and disc thickness variation (DTV) using Swiss measuring equipment. When it comes to quality control, there is no batch or statistical quality checking—every single rotor is individually measured. Our machining tolerances are up to three times tighter than the industry norm.

The lightweight rotor hats are machined from a solid billet of high-grade aluminum alloy. All hat designs undergo FEA strength and thermal analysis to confirm strength and rigidity under load. The hats are then finished with a dark grey, Type-3 hard anodize for maximum durability and service life.

• All Powerbrake X-Line 4x4 calipers feature stainless steel pistons. Stainless steel transfers heat far slower than aluminum, meaning that stainless steel pistons slow the transfer of heat from the brake pads to the caliper seals and brake fluid. This reduces the chances of boiling brake fluid and extends fluid seal life.
• Importantly, all Powerbrake calipers have internal fluid crossovers—this is absolutely critical for any 4WD caliper. We see other big brake kit competitors simply adapting fast road calipers for 4x4 applications, often featuring an external crossover tube, which poses a significant risk of stone damage and brake fluid loss on the trail or dirt road. Our calipers also have recessed bleeder screws, ensuring they are protected from potential stone damage.
• All Powerbrake X-Line 4x4 calipers feature our MTR system. This system provides a permanent record of the maximum operating temperature reached by the caliper.
• The semi-float system allows the rotor friction ring to expand and contract radially without restriction as it heats and cools. Special attention was given to ensuring low NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness). Our semi-float system runs particularly quietly during day-to-day driving.
• All X-Line 4x4 rotors feature our MTR system, which provides a permanent record of the peak operating temperature reached by the rotor. This information is extremely valuable when selecting the correct pad compound for your application. The thermal-paint tabs are applied to the outer diameter of the rotor, and each color in the four-level system (Blue, Green, Orange, and Pink) changes to white when a specific temperature is reached.
• The brake kit comes with our PB05 brake pads, manufactured in Japan, which we believe to be the best pad compound on the world market for 4WD trucks. This ultra-high-performance material offers a significant step up in performance and fade resistance compared to the original pads on the truck. Stopping power, pedal feel, and modulation are simply unmatched. This pad compound also offers good wear life and mileage.
