Norweld Ram 3500 - A Benchmark Build Heads Home

Dunes are more fun with a manual: This 6-Speed Cummins Ram 3500 build has left the building, and the continent, and is now in the harsh but beautiful environment where it was designed to live—an environment where summer temperatures can exceed 120F, and winter nights can approach 32F. Where the quick-deploying shade of a Fiamma awning and Stazworks beadlocks securing aired-down 37” tires are the difference between thriving and merely surviving.

With the trust of our intrepid customer, we set about organizing the systems of this rig into a cohesive whole. We started with water and fuel: the Norweld Deluxe Weekender Tray provides 22 gallons of water storage, the #fwcgrandbyflatbed with another 26 gallons, and the Titan fuel transfer tank adds another 30 gallons of diesel to the stock range. On the engine and drivetrain side, we used a Mishimoto Cooling System, a Southbend Clutch Kit to unlock the full power of the Cummins, PSC Hydro-Assist Steering, RCV Axles, Dynatrac Free Spin Kit, Nitro Gears for the Re-Gear, and Front and Rear ARB Air Lockers. To carry it all and handle desert washboards we installed King Remote Reservoir Suspension, Rear Airbags on Daystar Cradles, and an On-Board Twin Motor Air Compressor for actuating the Lockers and quick air-ups and air-downs of the tires and airbags. To deal with sand and dust we utilized an AEV Raised Air Intake with Pre-Filter, and to deal with unpredictable terrain and vehicle recoveries we installed an AEV Front Bumper with Warn 16.5 TI-S Winch, 40" ARB Front Light Bar, Rocker Sliders, and a Custom-Fabbed Rear Tire Carrier that allows access to the massive 37" spare while allowing access to Norweld's 4ft Rear Pull-Out Drawer for tools. Inside the cab, Scheelman Seats provide comfortable driver and passenger support during long, technical days on the trail, the Titan 30 Gal Diesel Tank transfers with the push of a button, and lights, compressor, and lockers are easily brought to bear with the AEV Dash Switch Panel. Taking full advantage of the ample sunlight, the well-appointed FWC Grandby Flatbed is equipped with 2 x roof-mounted Overland Solar 160W solar panels, making this rig perfect for long intervals of basecamping in between days on the trail.

The end of any MLO build is the beginning of a customer’s great adventure, and we can’t wait to see all the places this rig will go.
