Building the Ultimate INEOS Grenadier Overland Rig: Suspension, Protection, and Adventure-Ready Upgrades

The INEOS Grenadier was designed from the ground up to be a capable off-road vehicle, but this particular 2025 Grenadier is taking that capability a step further. This build is being transformed into a versatile overland rig designed to tackle everything from daily commutes and highway miles to remote trails and extended adventures.

Upgrading the Suspension, Wheels, and Tires

Every good overland build starts with the foundation, and this Grenadier received a serious suspension upgrade to improve its performance both on and off the trail.

The build rolls on Agile Overlander HD wheels with an ET30 offset. Finished in bronze with a black lip, the wheels add a rugged look that works particularly well with the Grenadier's maroon exterior. They are paired with 285/75R17 BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, giving the vehicle a larger footprint and a versatile tire that can handle a mix of pavement, dirt roads, and off-road terrain.

That's an important advantage when navigating rocky terrain. Instead of allowing an obstacle to grab the underside of the vehicle, the smooth polyethylene surface helps the Grenadier move across obstacles with less resistance.

Another benefit is serviceability. The polyethylene skid coatings can be replaced if they become heavily worn or damaged after years of exploring the trail, allowing the protection system to continue performing long into the vehicle's adventure life.

Building Out Exterior Storage for Overlanding

Two Leitner Side Hacks were added to provide additional exterior storage and cargo-carrying capability. The plan is to use one side for carrying additional fuel and the other for Maxtrax recovery boards, giving the customer easy access to important equipment when traveling off-road.

The Grenadier also received a Leitner front crossbar, which was added to the existing Rhino-Rack setup. Inside the rear of the Grenadier, the focus shifts from trail capability to organization and convenience.

The customer already had a GearMate drawer system, providing a solid foundation for keeping recovery gear, cooking equipment, tools, and other essentials organized. Rather than simply throwing gear into the back of the vehicle, a drawer system allows everything to have its place and makes it much easier to access equipment when you need it.

An Engel tilt fridge slide was added along with an Engel MT45 fridge, creating a dedicated refrigeration setup for longer trips. The tilt slide makes it easier to access the fridge and retrieve food and drinks without having to dig through the back of the vehicle.

Power is handled by an EcoFlow alternator charger paired with an EcoFlow DELTA Pro. This gives the Grenadier a substantial portable power setup for overlanding and camping, helping support the electrical demands that come with spending extended time away from traditional power sources.

To round out the rear cargo area, a GP Factor tailgate table with cutting board was integrated into the large rear drawer. The table creates a convenient workspace for preparing meals or handling camp chores and then tucks away neatly when it's time to hit the trail.

This isn't a build focused solely on conquering the most extreme rock-crawling trails. Instead, the goal is to create a capable and practical overland vehicle that can comfortably handle the entire journey—from the highway to the trail and eventually to a remote campsite.
