2012 Easter Jeep Safari: Jeep Concept Vehicles
For more than 30 years, Jeep enthusiasts have been gathering annually at the week long Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. This event allows Jeep owners to make new friends while putting their vehicles to the test on the numerous off-road trails, which vary in difficulty. Jeep has found this popular event to be the perfect place to unveil a number of their concept vehicles in recent time. This year was no exception, with Jeep showcasing six new concept vehicles. The standout vehicle this year is what Jeep calls the “Mighty FC” concept. The Mighty FC utilizes the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon chassis, with the cab shifted forward over the front axle. This is a retro design based off of the Jeep Forward Control which was produced from 1956 to 1965. This purpose built design was unique not only in its look but in its functionality. By shifting the cab forward and over the front axle it allowed for a larger load carrying bed in the rear. The design also shortened the nose of the vehicle, allowing Jeep to utilize one of its other chassis’s in production, as this does with the wrangler’s. The design also proved to be very maneuverable as a utilitarian vehicle rolled up into a small package. Jeep also added some impressive goodies to the Mighty FC, which includes Mopar’s new Pro 60 Portal Axles which Jeep does plan on offering for a mere $11,000. Read more about the Mighty FC here.
